Northern Utah Youth Symphony

The Northern Utah Youth Symphony provides motivated high-school-level musicians with advanced symphonic experiences.

​

NYUS rehearses Saturdays, 8:30 am to 11:00 am, from mid-September through April, with 3 concerts per year. Rehearsals are at Promontory School of Expeditionary Learning

​

Northern Utah Youth Symphony is a great place for committed musicians to grow as they reach for their potential! 

​

Membership Requirements:

​

  • All new and returning musicians audition each year.  

  • Musicians have played their instruments for at least three years; many have private lessons, but private instruction is not required. (Looking for a private teacher? Here's our list!)

  • We request & encourage musicians to participate in their school music programs. Anyone with extenuating circumstances may contact us.

  • Members are expected to attend all rehearsals and concerts. 

  • Audition dates for the current season are available on the calendar.

Northern Utah Youth Chamber Orchestra

NUYCO rehearses Saturdays, 9:30 am to 11:00 am, mid-September through April, with a retreat and three concerts a year. Rehearsals are at Promontory School of Expeditionary Learning.

Membership Requirements:

​

  • A minimum of 2 years experience is recommended on your string instrument.  

  • Students are strongly encouraged to participate in the public school orchestra for a minimum of 2 trimesters or semesters, for the current school year. Please contact us if you have extenuating circumstances.

  • Although private lessons are encouraged, they are not a requirement for membership. Here's a list of local private teachers!
  • Orchestra Members are expected to attend all rehearsals and concerts.

NUYWE rehearses Saturdays, 9:30 am to 10:30 am, mid-September through April, with three concerts a year. Rehearsals are at Promontory School of Expeditionary Learning.

Membership Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 years experience is recommended on your  instrument, or a letter of recommendation from your teacher.  

  • Students are strongly encouraged to participate in the public school band for a minimum of 2 trimesters or semesters, for the current school year. Please contact us if you have extenuating circumstances.

  • Although private lessons are encouraged, they are not a requirement for membership. Here's a list of local private teachers!
  • Ensemble Members are expected to attend all rehearsals and concerts.
