Audition Requirements
The Northern Utah Youth Ensembles need percussionists who are well-rounded and, if not able to play a specific percussion instrument, would be willing to learn.

Please prepare a short solo piece or etude on your chosen instrument: snare, timpani, or mallets. Choose something that will demonstrate your musicality, dynamic control, rhythmic accuracy, and technical ability. See below for materials, if needed.

In addition, please come prepared to demonstrate the following:

Two-octave major scales on a mallet instrument (xylophone) in the following keys:

The following rudiments on a snare drum:

5-stroke roll

9-stroke roll

single paradiddle

Tune the timpani to two accurate pitches of the panel’s choosing.
