This Saturday's Rehearsal + Abravanel Hall Notes

This Saturday's rehearsal will not include sectionals. We will begin the day with the Narnia and Mr Dunn will let you know the order from there. He will likely work on things and then come back to them.

I still have a few people who have not let me know what their plans are for Monday. I hope to have everything work out well! If you're still in deciding mode, just realize that even if you come for just the performance, you are important to us! I'll likely still be bugging a few people on Saturday.

Monday's schedule is still as it was last week. That is, we go to the Green Room at 3, perform at 3:30, and the Ogden Youth Symphony performs at 4. Sorry to Ogden Youth players! I tried.

If you need to see the info again, here is the PDF. Couple of things to note: Bring a lunch. Brown bag style. For drinks, only WATER.

Thank you all so much for being awesome!

Two More Things - Parking at Logan High, and a Question re: Abravanel Hall

1. Logan High has another activity (a regional basketball game) that starts at 5 pm tomorrow. They are asking us and our guests to park WEST of the school in the WEST parking lot. Please pass this info on to your guests coming to the concert. West Parking lot, only in marked parking spaces.

2. Q... Do I need to fill out the permission form?
A... I need a 100% response rate for Abravanel Hall. If I do not receive a permission slip either online or paper from you by tomorrow, I will be contacting each person individually to find out his or her plans. I need everyone accounted for. The slip not only tells me whether or not your are participating, it tells me what your transportation plans are. Refer to previous email for all the relevant links, or refer to the website. All emails post to the blog, which is the front page.

And the Concert is Tomorrow!

Concert Tomorrow, Feb 22, Logan High, 4 pm
One more rehearsal, next week, Feb 29, Promontory School, 8:30 to 11:00

Tomorrow's Schedule:
Morning: Men: If you don't already have a black bow tie, go buy one!
Load in before Noon
Noon - Set up stage
12:15 - call time for rehearsal (we may start early if we're ready!)
12:30 - about 2:15 NUYS Rehearsal onstage - Casual Dress is fine!
Rehearsal order will be the same as concert order: Lark, Nigun, Mars, Jupiter
3:30 - call time for the concert!
4:00 - concert! Free admission

Abravanel Hall is a week from Monday:
Your permission slips are DUE BY TOMORROW! If you haven't turned in or filled out the permission slip for Abravanel Hall, you can do it online. You can either print it off from a PDF (see bottom half of page 2) and fill it out, then take a picture, scan it, or turn it in to me tomorrow, OR you can fill out the online version, no printing required. I recommend the latter.

The performance schedule has changed. They have currently moved us to 3:30, with Ogden Youth at 4. I have requested an adjustment since we have overlap, and will let you know if it changes again. But just be aware that the schedule is subject to change!  Here is the link to all the info for the day, with the current/latest schedule change included.

And, lastly, if you have ANY QUESTIONS, please ask! There may be others with the same question!

See you tomorrow!

This Saturday, plus several REALLY IMPORTANT announcements

Please read this whole email. ;)

This Saturday's Schedule
This is our last rehearsal at Promontory School for our concert! Do your VeRy BeSt to attend this rehearsal!

Mr Dunn asks that you understand that this rehearsal structure is subject to change, as needs arise.

Also, pretty please, put your phones away during rehearsal!!!!

Full Orchestra to start - First 15-20 minutes on The Planets

Lark Ascending will be next, and those who do not play may go to sectionals, as directed by your section specialists (they may have you separate or together, so just listen for their instructions)

After we work on Lark Ascending, we will go back into The Planets

Nigun will be last, about the last half hour. If you have questions about anything in that nasty handwritten music, please ask. We may be able to help you! Here is a link to Joshua Bell playing the Nigun. Please listen to this over and over until it invades your dreams. Or at least a couple times before tomorrow.

Concert Next Week

We have posters and pass-along flyers for you to take tomorrow. If you take them, don't leave them in your folder! Use them to invite people to the concert!!!

MUSIC: We will NOT collect folders after the concert (see Abravanel Hall, below), but we WILL COLLECT  all the rental music (Lark and Nigun) after the concert. And we need 100% of it back. There will be a box for it, as well as people standing around in the band room and the backstage area, begging for you to turn in that rental music!!!

If you have questions about ANYTHING, please ask!

Here is the schedule for Logan High, February 22nd:
Set Up - Noon - Let's be ready to rehearse early!

NUYCO Rehearsal on Stage - 2:30 to 3:30
Concert - 4:00 pm (admission is free)
Ending time - by 5:30 pm
Concert Attire
A reminder that we wear a sort of uniform called "Concert Black" which means a tux equivalent for the guys and black all over for the girls. Black socks for the guys, that are long enough to cover when they sit on stage, and black tights or stockings for the girls. This makes the sight of the orchestra much nicer. Remember that they are looking up at your ankles and knees from the audience! Here is the official concert attire description. Note that chamber's outfit is different than ours. If you need a black bow tie, now is the time to get one!

Abravanel Hall
We have our schedule for Monday, March 2nd, at Abravanel Hall! We will be playing in the afternoon session which starts at 1 pm and runs until 4:30 pm. Our performance time is LAST. We play at 4:00. Those involved in Ogden Youth Symphony play at 2:30. I will send a separate email with details; however, I wanted you to know so you can rest easy that the day has been planned.

Our bus will arrive at the Perry Walmart at 11 am, and will stop at Farr West, Venture High, and Riverdale before heading south to Salt Lake. You will be given the opportunity to sign up for the bus (or not) when all the information is published.
